My hope is that the art I create within the alchemy of color, texture and luminosity connects you to something inside yourself that feels alive, soul-full and seen.

Recognition
Winner of the Thomas Stevens Gallery Sponsor's Award during the Fall 2025 Paint It Orange
In October 2025, I participated in Paint It Orange, an en plein air event presented by the Orange County Arts Commission in North Carolina. This was the first time that I dared myself to step out of the comfort of my studio, take on the challenge of a juried, en plein air event.

The weather was chef's kiss perfection as I joined 89 artists to paint local scenes – outdoors, in real time, and without photo references – within a hair-raising 52-hour window. It was insane, exhausting but incredibly fun. (Well, mostly fun. Except when the wind and my easel decided to dance together...with jazz hands.

Although I considered several exquisite vistas to paint, during my scouting expeditions, I kept returning to a simple, dilapidated old wooden sled that someone rescued and perched against a tree by a forest.

I felt a strong pull towards what this scene represented: the exhilaration of snow days that unfortunately now rarely exist; childhoods before video games and social media; and curiosity about the social cost of abandoned innocence.

Thank you to all sponsors –– and especially to the collector who purchased this very special piece.
