My hope is that the art I create within the alchemy of color, texture and luminosity connects you to something inside yourself that feels alive, soul-full and seen.

What's new in the studio?

"You Were Wild Once"

While traveling in Florence, Italy in March, a favorite quote by dancer Isadora Duncan haunted me:

"You were wild once. Don't let them tame you."

(There's a lot to chew in that quote, isn't there?)

Back in the studio, I posted the quote in my sight line, prepped a blank canvas and got to work. Over days, rather than force an image or idea, I let the quote be a visceral guide as I continued to layer paint, turn the canvas, layer paint, turn the canvas, and so on. As this piece matured, I fell in love with how it became a prismatic kaleidoscope of an internal landscape.

Yes, I could see the imprint from spending a week absorbed in the lush color of Renaissance frescos in Italy.

Yes, I could feel the kinetic energy of a Florentine evening as light danced across the Arno River, restaurants crowded with people talking, laughing, loving, savoring.

But also...I could feel that this painting tapped into something that was wild once.

"You Were Wild Once" is not a painting where you look "at" something. This is a painting where you look into something.

I am a featured artist...

I am honored and excited to be selected by the Durham Art Guild to be a featured artist at the JB Duke Hotel's Artist-In-Residence series this summer.

On June 9th and July 7th, I will be painting live in their lobby as part of their “Artful Evenings” experience. Guests can watch me work in real-time, enjoy cocktails by the fireplace, and view, interact, or purchase my art.

The JB Duke Hotel is a gorgeous, modern hotel located on the campus of Duke University. I can’t wait to be inspired by this space and the people I meet.

Wild Woman Sisterhood Series

The "Wild Woman Sisterhood" series was born from an abstract self portrait that I painted the week after my father died in the Fall of 2025. The image that emerged was raw, tender and evocative of the complexity of aliveness. Since then, more women emerged on my canvas – whimsical, salty, sassy, pensive, absurd, messy, poignant. Just like life.

"She Likes Them Slightly Dirty"

MM-051126-SLIGHTLYDIRTY-800 px_edited.jpg

Myrna plays pickleball in her pearls and believes Mahjong Mondays really do set the right tone for the week. She puts the ‘cute’ in charcuterie and has a zesty preference for spicy salami. She likes her martinis like she likes her men…slightly dirty.

She considers leopard print a neutral, travels with emergency lipstick, and has absolutely no patience for weak hors d’oeuvres or weak opinions. Her doctor says she should cut back on sodium, but frankly, life’s too short to fear olives.

She says ‘just one drink’ with tremendous optimism.
